The Mistress Of Groove

Professional bass player

Keira was born in Melrose, Scotland, daughter of a rock drummer. Keira picked up the bass in her early teens and then went on to study at Leeds Conservatoire. She has been dubbed the ‘mistress of groove’ and her playing style has been developed from her diverse influences including James Jamerson, Andy Fraser, Neil Murray, Alan Woody, Nathan East, Jaco Pastorius and Victor Wooten. She excels at playing a wide variety of musical styles including rock, blues, funk and soul and has established herself as a go to bass player and is building a sizeable following.

Starting her musical journey with southern rock band Straightshooter alongside her dad Mike and becoming a founding member of Syteria, featuring Jackie Chambers of Girlschool.

She has toured the UK and internationally and appears on several recordings. She has toured with Australian rockers Tequila Mockingbyrd and orchestral art rock band The Red Paintings. She has performed two special charity concerts and appeared in a documentary for Women’s Aid at Templi Di Paestum with Italian actress and singer Valeria Altobelli and her project Mnemosyne and The Muses. Keira has collaborated with Tal Bergman, guitar great Haim Romano and others, bringing her signature sound to JoanOvArc, Tequila Mockingbyrd, The Red Paintings, Diva Purple, blues‑rock artist Troy Redfern and Red Giant. She is currently working on a new, unique tribute project based in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Whether locking in with a drummer on tour, crafting bass lines for a new project, or shaping the visual identity of her brand, Keira brings precision, passion, and unmistakable personality to everything she does.

Her creativity doesn’t just stop at music. In her spare time, she designs her own custom handmade jewellery out of her used bass strings.

Keira is currently taking bookings for both international and national touring, recording sessions and dep work.
